Chassis cab versions come with a factory CA spec, which makes ordering simple. On a pickup you should measure from the back of the cab to the center of the rear axle after pulling the factory box.

SRW vs DRW

  • SRW: ~86–87″ bed width, up to roughly 4,400–4,900 lbs payload, better in soft ground, cheaper tire replacement.
  • DRW: ~96–97″ bed width, up to roughly 7,400 lbs payload and about 36,000 lbs gooseneck towing. The choice for loaded stock trailers, equipment, and hotshot work.
  • Beds are configuration-specific — an SRW bed will not fit a dually and vice versa.

Payload Impact of a Flatbed Swap

The factory Silverado 3500HD box weighs roughly 450–550 lbs. A steel flatbed runs 500–900 lbs depending on length and skirting, so the net payload change is small — usually 100–350 lbs. Skirted beds with toolboxes weigh the most; plain steel flatbeds the least.

Flatbeds That Fit

  • Bedrock — steel flatbeds in SRW and DRW, our best-priced in-stock option from $3,650 installed.
  • CM RD, TM, ER — RD for gooseneck hauling, TM for a taller rack, ER for heavy commercial duty.
  • Norstar SD (skirted) / SR — enclosed toolboxes, popular with ranchers and welders.
  • NXG — strong value steel flatbeds. Full lineup on our flatbed bodies page and current units on truck beds.

Towing Setup

Every flatbed we install can be set up with a gooseneck ball, rear receiver, and 7-way wiring. On a 3500HD DRW that gives you a clean 36,000 lb-capable gooseneck platform with a flat deck you can actually work off of.
