CM Model Lines Explained
- CM RD — CM’s best-selling steel flatbed (Rancher Deluxe). Standard gooseneck hitch, LED lighting, headache rack and rub rail with stake pockets. The default choice for ranchers, farmers and contractors.
- CM SK — Skirted steel flatbed with enclosed side boxes — locking storage without giving up deck space. Popular on daily-driver work trucks that need to look sharp.
- CM ER — Heavier-duty steel flatbed built for constant loading and hauling. A step up in deck and frame construction over the RD.
- CM TM — Hauler-style flat deck aimed at heavy towing and equipment moving.
- CM CMG — CM’s service/utility body line — enclosed compartments for tools, parts and equipment. The pick for mechanics, utility crews and service fleets.
- CM CMA — Service body configuration for crews needing more compartment volume than a standard utility body.
- CM SBC — Crane-ready service body, built with a reinforced subframe for a mounted crane.
- CM Dovetail — Dovetail landscape body with fold-down ramps for mowers and small equipment.
How to Choose the Right CM Bed for Your Truck
Two measurements decide what fits, and getting them wrong is the most common mistake buyers make:
- Cab-to-axle (CA) — measure from the back of the cab to the center of the rear axle. This is the number that determines which bed length fits your chassis. We stock 56″, 57″, 58″, 60″ and 84″ CA.
- SRW vs DRW — single rear wheel or dual rear wheel. Dually trucks need a wider bed with different wheel-well spacing; they are not interchangeable.
After that it comes down to how you work the truck. If you haul and need maximum open deck, go with an open flatbed. If you carry tools and want them locked up, a skirted bed or service body is worth the extra money. If you are lifting heavy equipment, you need a crane-ready body from the start — retrofitting later costs more.

Installation, Delivery and Financing
We install every bed we sell at our Wharton, TX facility. A typical installation includes removing your factory bed, mounting and aligning the new body, full wiring integration (tail, turn, brake and reverse lights), and hitch connection — then a final inspection before you drive off. Installation is $1,500 on most trucks and most jobs finish the same business day.
We deliver throughout Texas and into Louisiana, and we can point you to local and national lenders for financing. See our financing options.

Who Buys CM Around Here
CM is the default answer for Texas ranchers and farmers who want a proven steel flatbed with a factory gooseneck, and for contractors who need a skirted bed with locked storage. The service body lines (CMG, CMA) go out to mechanics and utility crews, and the SBC crane bed goes to anyone lifting heavy equipment daily.
What Comes Standard
Exact equipment varies by model line, but the flatbeds we stock typically arrive with LED brake, clearance and reverse lighting, a sealed wiring harness, a rear bumper with receiver hitch, a 30,000 lb gooseneck hitch, a headache rack, and rub rails with stake pockets. Service and utility bodies come with the compartment layout for that line, and crane bodies add the reinforced subframe. Ask us for the exact spec sheet on any unit before you buy — we will send it.

CM Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a CM truck bed cost?
In-stock CM beds at Star Truck Equipment currently start at $3,950 for a CM RD flatbed and run to about $17,750 for a crane-ready body. Those are cash or Texas check prices plus tax; installation is $1,500 on most trucks. Call (979) 532-1486 for an exact quote on your truck.
What’s the difference between a CM RD and a CM SK?
The RD is an open steel flatbed — maximum deck access and the lowest price. The SK is skirted, meaning enclosed lockable side boxes for tools. Same load-hauling ability; the SK costs more and looks more finished.
Will a CM bed fit my truck?
CM builds fitments for virtually every Ford, Ram and Chevy/GMC chassis. The critical measurement is cab-to-axle (CA) and whether your truck is single (SRW) or dual rear wheel (DRW). We stock CA sizes from 56″, 57″, 58″, 60″ and 84″. Tell us your year, make, model and we’ll confirm the right fit.
How long does installation take?
Most CM flatbed installations are finished in a single business day at our Wharton facility. That includes removing your factory bed, mounting and aligning the new body, full wiring integration, and hitch connection.
Do you deliver outside the Houston area?
Yes — we deliver across Texas and into Louisiana, and financing is available. Call (979) 532-1486 to arrange it.
