Payload is the real limit
A 2025 F-250 has a GVWR of about 10,000 lb and a payload rating between roughly 2,600 and 3,900 lb depending on cab, engine, and 4×4. A bare steel 8-foot service body is 1,400–1,900 lb. That leaves 1,000–2,000 lb for tools, stock, and passengers. Fine for an electrician or HVAC tech. Not enough for a mechanic with a welder, a torch set, and a 100-gallon fuel tank — that buyer wants an F-350 DRW or a cab and chassis.
Bodies that fit a 2025 F-250

SRW vs DRW on the F-250
The 2025 F-250 is offered as single-rear-wheel only. That matters in three ways: bodies must be ordered in SRW width (usually 84″ versus 86″+ for duallies), your rear axle capacity is lower, and a heavily loaded SRW truck with a tall body feels tippier on a crowned county road. If you know you will load the truck to its limit every day, price an F-350 DRW before you buy the F-250 — the body cost is nearly the same and the truck lasts longer.
Towing context
A properly equipped 2025 F-250 tows in the 20,000–23,000 lb range with a gooseneck and up to roughly 22,000 lb conventional on the best configurations.
