NXG Model Lines Explained
- NXG XFD — NXG’s open flatbed, with the recessed XDeck treadplate floor, integrated XRack, automotive-grade LED lighting and a frame-integrated 30,000-lb gooseneck hitch standard. A strong all-around ranch, farm and contractor bed.
- NXG XSB — Skirted steel bed with enclosed lockable side boxes. The volume seller — flatbed utility with secure tool storage.
- NXG XWB — NXG’s wide-body premium bed, with more deck width and an upgraded feature set for heavier commercial work.
How to Choose the Right NXG Bed for Your Truck
Two measurements decide what fits, and getting them wrong is the most common mistake buyers make:
- Cab-to-axle (CA) — measure from the back of the cab to the center of the rear axle. This is the number that determines which bed length fits your chassis. We stock 56″, 57″, 60″ and 84″ CA.
- SRW vs DRW — single rear wheel or dual rear wheel. Dually trucks need a wider bed with different wheel-well spacing; they are not interchangeable.
After that it comes down to how you work the truck. If you haul and need maximum open deck, go with an open flatbed. If you carry tools and want them locked up, a skirted bed or service body is worth the extra money. If you are lifting heavy equipment, you need a crane-ready body from the start — retrofitting later costs more.

Installation, Delivery and Financing
We install every bed we sell at our Wharton, TX facility. A typical installation includes removing your factory bed, mounting and aligning the new body, full wiring integration (tail, turn, brake and reverse lights), and hitch connection — then a final inspection before you drive off. Installation is $1,500 on most trucks and most jobs finish the same business day.
We deliver throughout Texas and into Louisiana, and we can point you to local and national lenders for financing. See our financing options.
How NXG Compares to Other Brands
We carry multiple brands, so we have no reason to oversell one. Honest head-to-head comparisons:
Who Buys NXG Around Here
NXG goes to buyers who want the most engineered features built into the bed — recessed XDeck floor, integrated steps and rack, tested LED lighting and a frame-integrated tow package — for ranch and farm use, contractor work, and fleets speccing trucks to one standard. The XWB wide body moves up into heavier commercial duty.
What Comes Standard
Exact equipment varies by model line, but the flatbeds we stock typically arrive with LED brake, clearance and reverse lighting, a sealed wiring harness, a rear bumper with receiver hitch, a 30,000 lb gooseneck hitch, a headache rack, and rub rails with stake pockets. Service and utility bodies come with the compartment layout for that line, and crane bodies add the reinforced subframe. Ask us for the exact spec sheet on any unit before you buy — we will send it.

NXG Frequently Asked Questions
How much does an NXG truck bed cost?
In-stock NXG beds at Star Truck Equipment currently start at $3,700 for an XFD flatbed and run to about $11,300 for a wide-body XWB. Cash or Texas check price, plus tax; installation is $1,500 on most trucks. Call (979) 532-1486.
Are NXG truck beds any good for the price?
The specs back it up. NXG builds a fully recessed 1/8-inch steel treadplate deck, integrated bed-access steps front and rear of the fenders, an XRack made from 3×4-inch mandrel-bent tubing with 270-degree welding at critical connections, automotive-grade LED lighting tested before the body leaves the plant, and a frame-integrated 30,000-lb gooseneck with a 24,500-lb rear receiver. The XFD, XSB, XSD and XWB cover open, skirted and wide-body configurations, and most in-stock units go on the truck in one business day.
What’s the difference between XFD, XSB and XWB?
XFD is the open value flatbed. XSB adds full skirting with lockable side boxes. XWB is the wide-body premium option with more deck and upgraded features. All three are available in the CA sizes we stock: 56″, 57″, 60″ and 84″.
Will an NXG bed fit my Ford, Ram or Chevy?
Yes — NXG builds fitments for the major chassis. What matters is your cab-to-axle measurement and SRW vs DRW. Give us your year, make and model and we’ll confirm.
How fast can you install it?
Most NXG installations are done in a single business day at our Wharton facility.

Why Choose NXG Truck Bodies?
NXG Truck Bodies, LLC builds premium, feature-rich commercial truck bodies in Mount Pleasant, Texas. These features are engineered into the XFD, XSB, XSD and XWB lineup — exact configurations vary by model.
- XDeck — the market’s only fully recessed 1/8-inch steel treadplate deck. It maximizes usable cargo space and eliminates exposed deck edges that are vulnerable to impact, coating damage and premature wear.
- XSteps — integrated bed-access steps in front of and behind the fenders, plus the industry’s largest rear step. Oversized, slip-resistant surfaces make it easier to get to the deck, toolboxes and rear work area.
- XRack — a fully integrated headache rack built from precision 3×4-inch steel tubing with mandrel bends, reinforced gussets and extensive welded coverage, including 270-degree welding at critical structural connections. The rack is built into the body and carries the lighting system.
- XLights — high-output automotive-grade LED lighting with integrated stop, tail, turn, reverse and amber strobe capability. Every lighting system is tested before the body leaves the facility.
- XHitch — a frame-integrated towing system with a 30,000-lb gooseneck hitch, 24,500-lb rear receiver, upright safety-chain keepers, pre-wired trailer connections and an integrated emergency breakaway loop.
- XCoat — an automotive-grade powder-coat finish with detailed chip-and-grind preparation, a five-stage wash, two-stage dust-on-dust powder application, infrared oven curing and powder-thickness inspection.
- Toolbox construction — toolboxes are 100% powder-coated and bolt on to the body after coating, giving more complete coverage and making a damaged box easy to replace. Mitered weatherstripping helps keep water and dust out, with stainless-steel hinges, compression latches and adjustable shelving standard.
- Modular storage — bolt-on horizontal and underbody toolboxes can be added after the original purchase without welding, cutting or extra fabrication, so you can expand or reconfigure storage as the work changes.
- Dealer and parts support — NXG focuses on responsive distributor support, competitive production lead times and parts availability that keeps installations moving and trucks in service.
