The Bedrock Diamond and the CM RD are the two best-selling steel flatbeds we install. Both are skirted, both have factory gooseneck and receiver hitches, and both are aimed at the same buyer: a rancher, welder, or contractor replacing a beat-up pickup box. Here’s how they actually differ once they’re on the truck.

Bedrock Diamond: strong deck, strong value
- Deep skirt boxes with good door seals — holds up well in Gulf Coast humidity.
- Widest color and treadplate choices of the two, and Bedrock is the brand we keep in the deepest stock, so you can usually drive one out the same week.
- Excellent price-per-pound: the Diamond is Bedrock’s workhorse deck, not a stripped promo model.
- Good ranch fit — pipe rails and side rail options for cattle panels and gates.
CM RD: the proven standard
- The most common flatbed on Texas roads, which means resale is easy and every shop knows how to service it.
- Rub rails and stake pockets across the deck make strapping equipment fast.
- Consistent fit across Ford, Ram, and GM cab-and-chassis in both SRW and DRW.
- Parts availability is the best in the category.
Honest trade-offs
Neither of these beds will fail you. The Bedrock Diamond usually comes in cheaper and with roomier skirt boxes; the CM RD has the deeper aftermarket, better resale, and the tie-down layout most welders prefer. If you haul odd-shaped loads and strap constantly, lean CM. If you want maximum bed and box for the money, lean Bedrock.
Which should you buy?
- Rancher hauling hay, panels, and a gooseneck trailer: either works — buy on price and what’s in stock.
- Welder or fabricator: CM RD, for the stake pockets and tie-down density.
- Budget-focused replacement of a rusted box: Bedrock Diamond.
- Need side storage above all: Bedrock Diamond skirt boxes are the roomier pair.
