Ford F-350 Tremor Flatbed Options: What You Need to Know Before You Build
The Ford F-350 Tremor is one of the most capable off-road oriented 1-ton trucks available — and it makes a surprisingly capable flatbed platform for customers who need to access rough terrain while still hauling a commercial truck body. Think oilfield access roads, ranch trails, and remote Texas construction sites.
At Star Truck Equipment in Wharton, TX, we’ve installed flatbeds on several F-350 Tremor builds. Here’s what we’ve learned.
F-350 Tremor — Key Specs for Flatbed Planning
| Spec | F-350 Tremor (SRW) |
|---|---|
| GVWR | Up to 11,500 lb |
| Max Payload | ~3,800 lb (varies by config) |
| Rear Axle | SRW only |
| Engine | 7.3L Godzilla V8 or 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel |
| Suspension | Lifted off-road, Bilstein shocks |
| Available as Chassis Cab | No — pickup configuration only |
| Cab-to-Axle (Crew Cab, Std Box) | ~60 inches |
| Cab-to-Axle (Crew Cab, Long Box) | ~72 inches |
The CA Situation on the F-350 Tremor
The Tremor is only available as a pickup (not a chassis cab), so your cab-to-axle options are limited. Crew cab with a standard box gives you approximately a 60-inch CA, which supports a 84-inch (7-ft) flatbed. Crew cab with a long box extends to roughly 72 inches CA, allowing for an 8-ft (96-in) flatbed.
Important note: The Tremor’s lifted suspension sits higher than a standard F-350. Body mounting hardware needs to account for the additional height. The truck will sit noticeably taller with a flatbed — which many Tremor owners actually prefer for the aggressive look.
Best Flatbed Bodies for the F-350 Tremor
CM Flatbeds — ER Series
The CM ER Flatbed is the most common body we install on F-350 Tremor pickups. It’s 8.5 ft wide (standard truck width), fits the 60-72 inch CA range available on Tremor crew cabs, and has a clean look that complements the Tremor’s aggressive styling. Built-in toolboxes on both headboard sides add functionality without extra accessories.
Bedrock Diamond Flatbed
For Tremor owners who want a premium-looking build to match a premium truck, Bedrock’s Diamond Series is a natural fit. Precision-formed diamond plate, clean welds, and a high-end appearance that pairs well with the Tremor’s trim level. Available in 84-inch and 96-inch lengths.
Norstar Flatbeds
Norstar builds durable flatbeds that fit cleanly on F-350 pickups including the Tremor. Their SD Series is built for real work — ranch operations, livestock hauling, and contractor use — and the build quality holds up on the rough terrain Tremor owners frequent.
Who Should Choose the Tremor as a Flatbed Truck?
- Ranch operators who access rough terrain daily — the Tremor’s off-road suspension gives you ground clearance a standard F-350 doesn’t have
- Oilfield workers on lease roads and gravel paths where articulation matters
- Contractors in rural Texas who want one truck that does everything — commute, haul equipment, and access remote job sites
Tremor vs Standard F-350 for Flatbed Use
| Factor | F-350 Tremor | Standard F-350 (SRW) |
|---|---|---|
| Off-road capability | Superior | Standard |
| Payload capacity | Similar (~3,800 lb) | Similar (~3,800 lb) |
| DRW option | Not available | Available |
| Chassis cab option | Not available | Available |
| Purchase price | Higher (premium trim) | Lower (base/XL trim) |
If you need a DRW or a longer CA for a bigger body (9 ft or longer), a standard F-350 chassis cab is the better choice. The Tremor is SRW-only and pickup-only, limiting body length options.
