Speccing a Service Body for the International MV Series
The International MV Series has become a common cab chassis choice for fleets and independent contractors who need more payload and a wider frame than a standard one-ton pickup can offer. But an MV rolling off the lot is just a bare chassis — the service body you put behind the cab is what actually turns it into a working mechanics truck, utility rig, or fleet service vehicle. Star Truck Equipment builds and installs service bodies for International MV trucks out of our Wharton, TX shop, with delivery and setup across Texas and Louisiana.
What to Consider on an MV Chassis
- Cab-to-axle length: MV trucks are ordered in a range of CA lengths depending on the fleet spec. Before we build or fit a body, we confirm your exact CA measurement, wheelbase, and rear axle rating so the compartments and deck line up correctly with no wasted frame space.
- GVWR and payload: The MV Series is available in Class 6 and Class 7 configurations. A heavier-duty STI service body or mechanics body makes sense on the higher GVWR trims where you’re hauling a compressor, welder, and full compartment load of parts and tools.
- Crane and PTO needs: If the truck is going to run a Tiger crane for field service work, we spec the body and subframe with the crane’s mounting and hydraulic requirements built in from the start, not bolted on after the fact.
Body Options for MV Trucks
Depending on the trade, we typically fit MV Series chassis with an STI mechanics or lube body for fleet maintenance and oilfield service work, a CM flatbed or platform body for general hauling, or a dedicated crane body for utility and construction crews. All of it is built and fitted at our shop, so the compartment layout, tool boards, and lighting match how your crew actually works, not a generic one-size-fits-all setup.
Fleet Orders Welcome
We regularly work with fleet managers ordering multiple International MV trucks at once, matching body specs, compartment configurations, and paint or decal placement across the whole order so every truck in the fleet is consistent. We can also coordinate directly with your upfitting timeline if the chassis is coming straight from the International dealer to our Wharton shop.
